And then adding it again.Step 1: Go to System Preferences, then Internet Accounts, then click on your AOL account, and then click the minus sign at the bottom left of that window. You’re just “letting go” of the account, in the Preferences. What you’re NOT doing is selecting all of the mail in your inbox and deleting it. If you follow the direction below that’s all you’re doing. Remember, you are only “letting go” of the account from your Mac– not deleting mail from the server. Deleting the account from your Mac doesn’t delete the mail from the server. I tried following the earlier advice and deleted my AOL account from the Internet Accounts panel of System Preferences. That worked for both of us, and we didn’t have any problems until this month.On Friday, February 12, sometime after 3:00 pm, my Apple Mail stopped receiving new messages, although I could still send outgoing messages. We both deleted the account and reinstalled it.
